Royal Garden

Royal Garden
Susan Witmer Miller

Come into our garden
Daughter of the King
Let us dance together
Worship, praise, and sing

Laying cares and worries
At the Savior’s feet
Gather thyme together —
Evil we’ll defeat

Place a crown of basil
On your royal head
with the Lord by your side
Fear and doubt are dead

Note: I wrote the poem above for a friend on August 27, 2016, to go with a fairy garden planter I created for her (pictured above). I used the legends behind the herbs that I placed in the planter as a basis for this poem:
Chives – hung around a house would ward off disease and evil.
Thyme – represents courage
Basil – was known as a royal and kingly herb
