The King Went Riding By

Happy Palm Sunday! I hope that you are having a wonderful day! Since I was at a meeting all day yesterday and didn’t write a poem yet today, I decided to share a poem that I wrote a few years ago during the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. I wrote “The King Went Riding By’ as I was pondering His entry into Jerusalem during that Passover long ago. Happy National Poetry Month!

Today is the first day of April and it’s also the first day of National Poetry Month! I am going to write a poem every day in my journal this month and I’ll choose a poem from the previous week’s writing and share it on the following Sunday. I probably will not be sharing a poem this Sunday unless I really like the poem that I write today or tomorrow! LOL Let me know in the comments section if you decide to join me in writing a poem each day during the month of April. If you are going to post your poetry on a blog, feel free to share your blog link in the comment section so that I can follow! If you want more encouragement visit National Poetry Writing Month and join in there!

To celebrate National Poetry Month, I decided to share a poem I wrote a number of years back ago. It is also in my recently published book, Peaceful Moments.

He was still hanging out in the nest a week after his siblings fledged. The day I wrote “Home Safe Home” he decided that it was time to prove my poem wrong and join his siblings.

The Battle

I wanted to share another sneak peek into Peaceful Moments. This time I’m sharing the poem I had the most struggle around including. The background painting is symbolic and carefully planned. The black symbolizes the battle that we are currently in. The red symbolizes the blood of Jesus, our Messiah. The yellow symbolizes the light of the Lord that is shining into the darkness even though we might not see it in the midst of our struggles. The gray symbolizes the darkness lifting. When we are at our darkest and feel most like giving up…that is often when we are closest to our victory and overcoming the monster we are battling.
