Joyfully Jumping into July

Happy July everyone! July has always been special to me! It is the month of my birth and my wedding! Because of this, July represents new opportunities and new seasons to me! I am excited to see what new surprises this July holds for me! I have a blog where I share my latest YouTube videos. I also plan on more consistently writing a weekly post about things happening in my life.  You can follow along by subscribing to my blog! My Verse for July:

My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my psalm to the King.
My tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.

Psalm 45:1 (AMP)

I see this verse as a picture of what my praise can and should look like. When I let God fill my heart with excellent things, excellent things come pouring out. I will use this verse as my heart’s prayer this month. May my heart overflow with a good theme. May my words on the page glorify Christ. May I be His instrument used to point my readers to Him.

What is New at Sue’s Nook?

As most of you know by now, I have a YouTube Channel. I have been consistently posting weekly videos on Mondays and Thursdays. Monday is “Journey through the Psalms.” I read that week’s Psalm from the English Standard Version and then again from the Amplified Version. After reading the Psalm, I’ll comment on what stood out to me as I was reading it, encourage those watching to do their own digging into the Psalm as they read it during the week, and then I’ll say a prayer.

Thursday’s post is “Tea Time with Sue.” During this time I will pour myself and the viewer a cup of tea and chat about a topic. Since I’m not a “Chatty Cathy,” this time has been more of a struggle for me. I am having trouble coming up with a weekly topic. I would appreciate you lifting me and “Tea Time with Sue” up in prayer. Ask the Lord to guide me as I plan “Tea Time with Sue” and give me the topics He’d like me to chat about.

I am finally viewing Sue’s Nook, my writing, and my painting as a career instead of a hobby. This perspective change has been difficult for me because it’s not bringing in much financially. But when I looked at it as a hobby, I was not giving it the time and energy needed and not making much headway in my writing, the website, the YouTube channels, and stocking up on my homemade cards to have enough to sell. Now that I have set up a daily work schedule, I am accomplishing so much more! I am still in the process of fine-tuning and adjusting the schedule but I’ve noticed a huge difference in my productivity!

Since my last newsletter, I have set a release date goal for my next poetic devotional and journal titled, Beside the Still Waters. It is to be submitted to Amazon’s Create Space by October 31st with the release date goal being November 18th.

I finished editing the poem portion of Beside the Still Waters. This past Saturday I sent the poems off to my Scribes group for their critique. While I am waiting to hear back from them, I’m doing a lot of abstract painting to build up my painting stockpile. I want to have a variety of paintings to prayerfully choose from when it comes time to match each poem to it’s background!

During the month of June, I attended a virtual writing workshop titled “Unlock Your Writing,” and gleaned a lot from it.  It gave me the kick in the pants I needed to treat it as a career, set a scheduled writing time each day, set up a prayer team, and to have a weekly business meeting with God. The virtual workshop helped me to refocus, set goals, and continue moving forward.

For My Prayer Warrior Subscribers

I could use prayers for the following:

1. Wisdom and discernment on what to record and post for “Journey Through the Psalms” (Mondays) and “Tea Time with Sue” Thursdays on my YouTube Channel. I want to share what God wants me to share.

2. Wisdom and discernment on what articles to write and share on my blog at Suesnook.com. So far, I’ve mostly just been linking my YouTube videos but I feel like I need to write a weekly post. I’m just not sure what.

3. Pray that I will continue to move forward with Beside the Still Waters and keep the pace that I am going. I need to paint some more backgrounds, so pray that Holy Spirit guides my hands as I paint.

4. Pray for open doors for public speaking appointments in God’s timing. Only He knows when I’m prepared and ready for those.

5. Continued prayers for the Lord’s financial provision for our family.

6. Also, pray for the Lord’s protection over our home, marriage, and my sons (and their wives and wives-to-be)

Farmers would make great writers. They really know how to work a plot.
